Water Level Controller

Whether it is domestic or residential plot; Water storage is always the most important priority Which makes tank observation; An important work. For this, An extra work force required to monitor the tank activity But with the help of an automation we can reduce our workforce/extra costing. By installing a water level controller, System get automatic for drainage & filling purposes. This Can also be used in saving the submersibles or pumps from dry run & Overflow conditions.

WATER LEVEL CONTROLLER 

There are different types of water controllers but in this post we will explain water controller with stainless steel probes. This controller generally contains 3 steel probes which immersed inside the water, Controller with these probes continuously monitors resistance in between the sensors. These steel probes are just a thick conductor which is having a larger surface area.

When all the probe get dipped inside the water, resistance value get lowered in between them while without water; resistance get higher.

According to the resistance value, controller changes its changeover contacts which we can use to get the signal or to control the water pump.

SPECIFIACTIONS OF THE CONTROLLER 

Supply : 240VAC, ±20%, 50/60Hz

Sensitivity : 1Kohm to 200Kohm (adjustable)

Delay( ON-OFF) : 0.1 sec. to 10 Sec. 

Changeover Contact : 8A (Res.)@ 250VAC / 30VDC

APPLICATIONS WITH CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

FOR TANK FILLING

"Tank filling consists of filling the tank until it get filled, After complete filling pump get switched off. "

All three sensors get connected across the controller at pins 'Common', 'P3' & 'P4'. Sensors dips inside the water at three different levels; Common at extreme bottom, P4 at top most level & P3 remains in between both the sensors. A supply voltage of 230VAC is connected at A1 & A2 terminals. Terminals 15 & 18 be used in controlling of the pump through contactor As per shown in a circuit diagram below:

FOR DRAINAGE

" In drainage, tank's water get drained by the pump until tank get empty up to a certain level. This circuit also used as a safety circuit to prevent the dry run condition."

For this, complete circuit will remain the same as in tank filling except Just need to exchange the NO contact of the controller with NC contact.
